“I love Mission Impossible. That frantic, down-to-the-wire operation feel is pretty much my life right now.”

“I don’t know what I want to do, but I am always grateful for a chance to consider new opportunities and increase my stress.”

About Us

"It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then."

                                           - Alice, Alice in Wonderland

Two women, a similar story, a fair bit of wine, and a great idea…

Are you in or near your “mid-life” and feeling unsettled, discontent, uncomfortable or unhappy? We’ve been there. Finding you are more and more burned out and tapped out by work, marriage, parenting, daily decision-making and life in general? Yup, we get it. Thinking a lot about divorce as the only inevitable option, but there are still reasons to stay and try? Absolutely empathize. Ready to take the first steps towards considering separation or divorce, but feeling anxious and afraid and not sure where to start? You’re absolutely not alone.

We created this site for you, for us, for all the women we know who have been, currently are, or will be, in this same spot.

We’re not the experts, and we can’t (and would not try) to tell you what to do. But we have spent a lot of time (and money) consulting with and hiring the experts. We can share our experience and their guidance for navigating separation and divorce, so that you feel less alone, less worried, and on more solid ground. You don’t have to settle for anything less.

Carmen (aka Meagan's Life Guru)

Carmen is a freelance writer and editor, mom to three, and co-founder of unhitch. A transplanted Prairie girl, Carmen has been separated since 2017. She posts info and insights from the experts—and sometimes her own experience—in hopes of helping other women navigate the mid-life realities of parenting, marriage, divorce and everything in between.

Meagan (aka Carmen's Discount Queen)

Meagan is a non-profit ninja and co-founder of unhitch. Mom to two school-aged boys, Meagan is recently divorced and has experience, compassion and insight to share on the challenges of high-conflict separation, parallel parenting and how to save a penny or two. Born and raised in Thunder Bay, with a rather long hiatus in Toronto and the UK, she’s navigating her own divorce and dating in a town where everyone is related to EVERYONE else.
